27 Weeks

Thursday, May 31, 2012

What a week this has been! It is my last week of my second trimester and we were blessed with a very healthy doctors appointment. We had an ultrasound that showed our babies are growing wonderfully! Jack Henry is estimated to weight 2 lbs 13 oz and Hadley is estimated at 2 lbs 8 oz. We are thrilled to have such healthy growing babies! We also go to see their sweet faces with the 3D ultrasound. Jack Henry was facing my back so we only could a side view, not nearly as clear as Hadley. Hadley was extremely active, as she ALWAYS is and gave us a great little face shot. At one point Jack Henry had Hadley's head in a vice grip between his knees, probably telling her to settle down! It is so beautiful to see God knit together such sweet babies! I think they are pretty cute, but I might be a little biased :)

Jack Henry with his sweet little arms behind his head... relaxing :)
The quality isn't so great plus I took a picture of the picture with my phone!

Hadley

With a total of over 5lbs of baby plus placentas and fluid, I feel like I am full term with a singleton. My uterus measures at 35 weeks and I feel it! With that being said, my doctor has decided it best for me to be on modified bed rest the remainder of my pregnancy. This isn't full pelvic rest but it means not being on my feet longer than 30 mins at a time, and it also means no more working. As an RN, I have a physically demanding job that was beginning to take a tole on me. My doctor said everything looks great with the babies and he wants to keep it that way with me taking it easy. So the rest of my pregnancy I will be taking it easy and allow my babies to cook as LONG as possible. We want big, healthy babies with no NICU time and I agree with my doctor that I was really pushing my body at work.

Hadley is breech right now (She is baby A, so she will come out first and we need to her to be head down for a vaginal birth... however there is TONS of time for her to be head down) and Jack Henry is head down like a good boy. We are getting so excited to meet them in just a couple of months!

Maternity Clothes? Well, I am having a hard time finding maternity cloths that fit now! If they are big enough for the belly, they are too big everywhere else, and if it fits me everywhere else, it is too small for the belly... A problem that will probably grow worse. I find myself wearing Luke's T-shirts around the home when I don't need to be fashionable.

Stretch Marks? Still none! WHoo hoo!

Sleep? Still decent. I just wake up with a very stiff and sore back.

Movement? Moving TONS and starting to kick HARD.

Cravings? Skyline and lemonade.

Gender? Boy and girl

Belly Button In or Out? Out!

Symptoms: Belly is BIG and tight, heartburn and some leg cramps, back aches, and a few braxton hicks contractions.

Best moment of the week? Seeing out precious babies via ultrasound and a good checkup report!

What I am looking forward to: Getting the nursery finished.

26 Weeks

Thursday, May 24, 2012

Well my doctor wasn't kidding when he said between 24 and 28 weeks, things will become extremely difficult, physically. Last week I had a very physically demanding shift that put my body into a stressed out state. I barely made it waddling to the car and had braxton hicks contractions on the way home... very scary to say the least. I then developed a nasty infection that started in my sinuses then worked its way down to my chest. Nothing serious, just enough to knock me down a bit. I didn't work my two shifts this week as I am letting my body recover and will be evaluated by my doctor on tuesday. Im not showing any other scary signs of preterm labor so I pray we will have a good appointment tuesday. I just want to put my sweet babies first, and taking care of my body and not overdoing it is essential in that. We are feeling so blessed to have such a smooth pregnancy this far and all the uncomfortable moments will be worth it in the end. Only 10 weeks until we reach my doctor's 36 week goal for me! 12 weeks until induction if I havent had the babies sooner. I want them to grow inside me for as long as possible no matter how hard it will me on me.

Maternity Clothes? Pretty much ALL maternity, I can only get away with some non maternity dresses.

Stretch Marks? Still none!

Sleep? Sleeping has been pretty good this week. Fully reliant on my pregnancy pillow.

Movement? Moving TONS and starting to kick HARD.

Cravings? Nothing sounds very good this week.

Gender? Boy and girl

Belly Button In or Out? It is out 90 percent of the time... it pops back in when I lay down.

Symptoms: Belly is BIG and tight, heartburn and some leg cramps, back aches, and a few braxton hicks contractions.

Best moment of the week? Having my Mom come stay with us one night. We finished fabric shopping for the babies bedding.

What I am looking forward to: Next ultrasound and doctors appointment... this tuesday.

Babymoon Nashville: Day one

When Luke and I first found out we were expecting, we decided our babymoon would be to NYC. We would see a broadway show every night, eat lots of good food and do lots of walking. When we found out we were expecting twins, our plans had to be modified a bit. Not too much walking, not too long of a travel and had to do it before 25 weeks. How blessed we were to have our circumstances lead us to Nashville. I am a true southern girl and my soul was alive last week as we spent 3 nights in Nashville, TN and 2 nights back home in Louisville, Ky. We made amazing memories together and just enjoyed our time together in the beautiful south. We spent our first night at the Brentwood Bed and Breakfast and spent time in Franklin.
